What’s your background?
I am originally from Coimbatore, India. I have completed a bachelor's in biochemistry and a master's in biotechnology. In my mid-20s, I decided to embark on a solo venture to pursue my PhD in Canada.

Why science?
Science feeds my curiosity - I have always been fascinated by the marvels of nature, biology and physics. Some of my fondest childhood memories include learning about how plants and animals grow.
Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?
Keep your curiosity going - stay up-to-date in your field through reading and participating in conferences. Get involved in networking opportunities to build professional connections. Above all, lead a balanced life, your mental health is important.

What do you like to do for leisure?
I enjoy learning new things and watching thought-provoking documentaries. I am currently learning to play the keyboard.

Any song or book recommendations?
I recently read Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist. I highly recommend it.
